Default anyone own a LR3?

Curious how it has been for you, and what to look out for when looking to buy used.

Bump to see if sol goode can come up with one good thing to say about his new LR3

I've never owned an LR3, but my research last summer before I decided not to buy one led me to stay away from the 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and the new 2010 models.

I really like my LR3.
It drives 10x better than my Escalade did.
But.......
Expect to take it in for some issues. I've been pretty lucky overall. But the Rover brand has the worst quality of all OEM's.

If you get lucky.....it's a great car.

That being said....I am debating trading mine in for BMW on Monday.

Oh yeah.....if you plan on towing with it....plan on spending a shit ton of money to get one of those faggy European "reese" hitches. I think the dealer quoted me at like $750 for the wiring pin and receiver.

Still better than the iPhone 4.
I wonder if I toss the rover out the window at 45 mph if it will improve the truck

ya I have read on several threads that the LR3 isnt known for the best reliability. I was just hoping to get the wife into some SUV thats a little different and can tow a clamshell snowmobile trailer. My bro in law has an 01 Disco with 165K miles on it that he bought new and it has been great with just minor repairs. These Euro vehicles overall reliability scares me.....Maybe I will have to take a look at the BMW X5s.....or Just convince her that she will be happy with a new F150..lol

I've never known anyone with a LR SUV that wasn't an aggravating money pit. Frequent failures combined with pricey parts.

That being said, I was lusting all over a yellow soft top 94 Defender 90 in Sarasota last week...

Is the LR3 like the big Rovers where after 2 years its value has dropped 75%?

Rover products are to be owned for their character and style, exclusivity, or offroad ability. Any other reasons make no sense. There's something about them that draws me back.

Agreed
If I buy another SUV, I am sure it will be a Range Rover.

I have an LR3 wife loves how it drives, it handles great in all weather, I have taken it down a few trails and through some deeper snow and never let me down.

As for parts, they are pricey if you need anything besides general maintance parts..
i.e. tail light cant find one used for under $300....

We do have a few electrical gremlins that pop up every now and then.... radio wont display anything or change ststions but music comes out...this comes and goes
the alarm goes off while in the garage....some of the door sensors dont always seems to work right....

we did have one recal that caused the drain for the sun roofs to back up and leak into the cabin, that was fixed....one of the clips was bent to far over at the factory..

Im back and forth man....Im having a hard time with paying $38k for a jeep wrangler! lol So I was throwing the idea of a used $20k-$25k more luxorius LR3. I really would like a Rubicon but its just tough to 100% commit for the money they are right now.
