Default Classics....mustang of F-series?

Just want to get some opinions...

Working my ass off and saving money to get a classic vehicle next summer. I'm stuck on which way to go though...either want a '73-'79 ford truck (F100, F150, or F250) or a '64-'66 mustang. Neither one will be driven in the winter, it's purpose will be a full-time summer driver.

I'm almost in the same boat except I want 60s-early 70s F1. Cali weather won't affect the truck and I'd daily drive it. However now I am thinking of dropping a 351w in my dad's '33 and using that instead.
It all depends on what you want to do. A Mustang will probably be more money than an F1, but flashier and better to play around with on the street. I like the standard cab longbed F1s so that would be what I'd go with. Cheaper than the shortbed or stepsides and more functional, and you can always make a pretty fast truck out of them still. Think sleeper.
I already have my muscle car of choice so now it is basically onto my truck of choice to work with.

my dream is to get a '53 Mercury M-1 pickup, but most assured i will never be able to afford it, so i will most likely settle for an F-1 pickup...someday

Mustangs are pricey and overdone. Do the pickup. A 68 Mercury M100 would be cool.
