Gov. Jennifer Granholm watched this morning as students at Detroit’s Southeastern High School used yarn in a lesson about acute angles and studied yeast for a lesson on metabolism.

The classes are being taught by recent college graduates, who are members of the Teach for America Corps. Granholm said she visited the school to shine a light on these teachers who are among the highest-achieving college graduates in the nation. They have committed to two years of teaching in urban and rural areas.

“These young people are the best of the best,” Granholm said. There are 26 TFA instructors in DPS classrooms this year.

I don't understand what you're getting at here? They probably also dealt with angles and biology in 7th and 8th grade... In school today, you get exposed to subjects the whole way through the school experience. Generally you build upon what you learned the previous year. Kids in the elementary are exposed to biology, same in middle school, as well as in high school. I took biology I as a freshman and biology II as a senior.

I know, I know, you're trying to make it look like the black kids are dummies because they are doing stuff in High School that you think you did in Junior High...
