Default replacement cordless tool batteries?

The replacements are expensive enough might as well just buy another tool with two batteries and charger. I've had bad luck buying cell phone batteries on the web so I'm hesitant to buy any of the aftermarket tool batteries. What do you guys do when the batteries die?

I've had good luck getting new cells put in the old batteries before. Try someplace like batteries plus if there is one near you.

I was able to find some cheaper replacements at batteries plus for my Makita. I believe they were like $35. They also replaced my gps bat for $25.

I was just asking my Snap On dealer about replacements for my Makita stuff yesterday, and the cost of two batteries was about $20 less then the cost of the drill/flashlight set with 2 batteries and charger....wtf??

good timing on this thread, I'll check that batteries plus link....thank you!

*$54 there...a little cheaper anyway

I have bought RC car battery packs and used the cells in the power tool housing.

Really not much cheaper than buying the original pack, but good if you have a discontinued model.
