Default Speedo bouncing

Just had my 8.8 on my 93 F-150 with a 5.8/e40d regeared to a 4.88 with aussie lockers. My problem is the speedo bounces around at about 45 mph on up. It will jump about 5-10 mph. The speed sensor was replaced, no luck. I recalibrated the speedo for the bigger tires. The speedo is accurate now, but still bounces. Have any of you had this and how do you fix it.

i had this issue on my old ford, the wires to the speed sensor were all corroded, i think i replaced about 3 feet or so, and the problem went away.

I'll check that. Where were yours corroded at? We did change the sensor and that did not work.

mine were corroded inside the wire insulation, for about 2.5 feet, i kept stripping some insulation back until the wire looked good and clean.

Did the speedo bounce before the gear change? If not, I'd inspect the tone ring on the differential.

Wasn't there an issue with early 90's Ford speedos? My mothers Taurus and a buddies escort both did that above 45. Below they were fine. I remember finding a recall or tsb.

No it did not. Thanks. I will suggest that to my mechanic.

Sorry for the late reply here, but tone ring was the correct answer. Thanks!
