Default My TJ Build Now to 1ton's

Well i figured its time to start a build thread for my TJ. Not that its gunna be any different then anyone elses but I've finally got it about where i want it.
To start of I bought it in maybe decemeber last year with 2in coil spacers and 31s and was a DD, its got a 2.5l with a 5speed with only about 10k on it, i have all the receipts for the new motor that went in. I've changed the distribute cap and rotor and plug wires but thats it in the engine.

few flex pix

Then i got some 33 swampers for it and some wider rims also put on tube fenders for more clearance in the front, also put a lockrite in the front

It wheeled really well like that until i broke 4 teeth of the rear ring gear so I put a ford 8.8 with 4.10s and LSD in

I really like that 8.8 in there, then i put herculiner on the floor and the back to protect it a little

Then i got some 36in TSL radials on some 10wide rims put them on to see what they would look like

Then i bought a rough country 6in long arm kit that took me about 2 full days of working on it to put in, also got a SYE and installed that as well. Its beed a long week for me installing all this by myself

And this is about where i want it really. I just finished today so I gotta make a rear driveshaft which i have all the parts to do it i just have to weld the pipe together, gunna try it in the onekama fair sunday.
My next step will be to connect the roll cage to the frame and install 4.88 gears front and rear. I'd like to keep the 4 banger really but some day the 5.7L fuel injected chevy motor will find its way in there. so tell me what ya think, thanks

Don't laugh I have confidence in her
Got the CV drive shaft put in today took it out back to see how it did on some little hills and she spins the tires just fine, I'm excited to see how she will do

I'm not sure if I wanna regear these axles if i'm just gunna get a new front axle soon.
What would be a good cheap axle to put in the front that i can make a 5x4.5 lug pattern? I know u can get conversion kits for most everything but i would like it to already have it. The prorock 44 fronts are nice but for 3grand i could put 60's under it but i'm not looking to make it full width. I think my wms to wms is 60.5inches so I could cut down whatever u get. I have a spare front that i can get all the brackets off of so i'm set there. let me know if anyone has any options that would work for my situation.
thanks

In the works to get a 5.7l vortec motor out of a 96 chevy, gunna hook up a NV4500 dodge trans to my np231 tcase. gunna get motor wiring harness and ecu question is how had is the wiring gunna be? i've read up so i know i'll need a higher pressure fuel pump i'm looking into a new TJ pump that supposed to be 58psi which i need 55 or more for the fuel injections set up. what about gauges? i know i can get some mechanical gauges like oil pressure, temp, fuel with be pretty easy tach can be done speedo is in the tcase so thats good. I see that a lot of ppl have put the 5.3L in jeeps but not a lot of 5.7L's why not?

what size tires are you running, I see the rear flares are off and the rear quarters are caved in, is this from 35 or 37?

they are caved in from the 33s when i only had 2in lift. Now I'm running 36's I havn't taken it out since i put the lift and 36in tires on it so we'll see if it runs. I'm going to get the motor this weekend and just keep getting parts around to swap it in, need a NV4500 and adapters for that to bolt to my np231 transfer case. then a new radiator and to just figure out the wiring really also maybe a new fuel pump.

Might get some info. from fabricator on that 5.7 vortec install, he has done it. Allot of people go 5.3 cuzz they are easy and plentiful etc.... I have some 99 350 vortec stuff if you run into needing some.

Thanks guys, I really like them rock slides too. They came on it when I bought it. I might need a nice set of headers for it if anyone has any? I need to get the motor and see what kinda headers I'll need to fit inbetween the frame rails, plus motor mounts. I'm really afraid of the wiring tho, I've read up and it says its not as hard as its made out to be but I'll prolly go with all new gauges, mechanical if I can. So if u have any of that stuff i'm interested. thanks again guys, all in all i've spent quite a bit on this build but i love that jeep, think i'll love it even more with the 350 power

Haha thats Costello, he's a husky Shepard mix. Really a good dog just doesn't really like wheeling and all the bouncing around.
No real updates, i'm picking up the motor saturday but i plan to take my time get all the stuff that i need around then start taking it apart and putting it in. I can't wait to get that 350 in there tho.
heres a pix of costello hes got beautiful baby blue eyes

Got the new 350 vortex engine home, the wiring harness got kinda cut up so I'm prolly gunna get a new one from howell and send my ecm in and get it flashed to work with a manual trans. I need to buy an engine stand so I can start rebuilding this thing. This is gunna take awhile tho to get all the stuff around I'm going to take my time with this since the motor in the jeep is still good only 10k miles on it but its only a 2.5L 4 banger. Also looking at a bigger front axle wondering if it would be cheaper to get a dana 44 cut it down to 60.5wms to wms and rebuild the whole axle or buy a currier axle all set up with gears and locker? let me know if u guys think I should build one or buy one? I'm thinking buy one since they come with alloy shafts locker and whatever gears I want, but thats about 3 grand dont really have that kinda cash unless someone wants to buy my boat? haha I'd like to hear ur input on this tho
