Default Obama makes clear support for ground zero mosque

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100814/...o_mosque_obama

"As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country,"

"That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances," he said. "This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable."

Yepp... he's our president

Is it safe to say electing sand "insert racial slur here" as our president is a bad idea?

I 110% agree with him. Religious freedom even means religions you don't agree with.

Who are you going to elect that directly opposes that?

One hundred million dollar sand "insert racial slur here" playhouse with no disclosure of where the funding is coming from. Is it okay with you if the money would be coming from terrorists?

Whether or not I think it's "right" has no bearing on if it's legal within the bounds of our constitution.

okay mr. politician, I didn't ask if it was legal within the bounds of our constitution. I asked you if you thought it was right. So, your answer to whether or not you think it's right?

I agree that, if this area is in fact private property, and local, state and federal laws are met and not broken, we have no grounds for which to deny them the right to build their Mosque and Community Center there. It is somewhat irritating that they would want to put it so close to ground zero..

Perhaps it's the only available land? Or maybe that group of people are trying to send a message, either way, if the constitution, via the laws, says it can happen, it can happen.

Of course.. Modern presidents, including Chairman Maobama havn't exactly been defenders of the Constitution, unless of course.. it's convenient.

so by your statement, the indians should have first pick of anything, they were here before "us americans"

don't get me wrong though, f*ck those muslums and that mosk they want to build on ground zero, i've got a solution for that though, tell them they can build the most but they have to pay to have the towers rebuilt and at least half of the other destroyed builds rebuilt. And they cannont have any say in what goes on with the buildings. If they do that then sure they can build a mosk there, but they can't go in it...or sit on the sidewalk by it

They can't hear the call to pray, with this new building you will be able to hear it multiple times a day at Ground Zero.

While I believe that building it there is in very bad taste, I also beleive that they have the right to build whatever they want on private property as long as it is done legally. Isn't that what this country is based upon?

well hopefully some building inspectors will try very hard to find faults during contruction. im sure they can make it very difficult if they want to.

the muslims are trying very hard to overpopulate native inhabitants and doing a good job of it too.

You need to ask your self who is the guy that bought the property? And were did he get the money? He bought the property a year ago and a year ago he was waiting tables at a resturant. Tell me where is a waiter going to get more than 4 million dollars to buy property in new york city? Are terrorists funding this project? If so then it is a bad idea. They will tell you to your face that they are peaceful but when non condem their actions of violence, their silence is deafening.

Yep I agree with him also, It's BS and a bad call on their part to put it there, but they have every right to, I also hope it gets Fu@ked up each night by true Americans each night and Bombed when its at full capacity and blows them up and sends a message, that next time we object to something so thoughtless. They think twice...
