Depends... do you want rust all over your truck in 5 years or 10?

If jeep wasn't owned by Crystlers, Crystler would be dead to me.

Can't go wrong with a Chevy. (Thats my penis talking)

Its very well defined with the Allison. Leave your engine stock and it will go 300,000+ easily. Anything more than a 100 HP tune and you're rolling the dice.

If you're happy with it now, DON'T put a tuner on it. It starts with a little 50 HP mileage tune (which works very well by the way). Then you can't resist the 100 HP tune. Pretty soon you're on the 200 HP tune (driving carefully). Next thing you know, you're up at Merchant Automotive forking out $5000 for a trans build, lift pump, EFI live tuning, and running 12 second 1/4 miles.

Not going there knaffie, I pull a 12,000 lb. camper and a 16ft. trailer with a 93 yj on it and I'm happy. ( not at the same time but I know it would)

Here's another one of those "undependable" duramxes with only 674,156 on it.

2006 Chevy 3500. Original motor, never been apart. One set of injectors, trans had bearing failure at 550k. T-case fell victim to pump rub at the time this pic was taken

I take it you didn't see the only I posted on the previous page with 751,000? Might as well set your goal really high if you're going to set it.

if you want to build power, i would go with a Cummins.

If you plan on keeping it stock, users preference but the chevy's tend to hold up better (IFS sucks though)

I work for a place that remanufactures diesel fuel systems (primarily semi trucks). My boss and I always talk about the full size pickups (we are trying to get into that business). I don't know when they did the change, but the duramax has a far better fuel system with the CRIN3 Common rail setup, but i'm pretty sure this is on the new model Chevys.

Love my 2003 Duramax.... i get 20 mpg driving back and forth to work with no chip in it. Also i pull a 26 foot deck over goose-neck with two jeeps on it and still manage 12 mpg at 65 mph

Fixed. That is more believable. I have the same mods and don't get any where near 35 mpg. When I put 315s on my truck, it killed my mpgs. On, 285s I get close to 21-22 empty, and 12-16ish depending on what I'm pulling. He may get close to 30 empty, but not pulling an enclosed camper.

wouldnt recomend a bullydog system... not the best tunes, will smoke like hell wont have it.. but can be devistating to the ecm.. im partially bias as i have EFI-Live on my duramax...

everyone knows that a cummins is the source of most power, it all comes down to your personal prefrence.

the biggest thing to remember is diesel is addicting.. there is never enough power!!
