I don't expect you to understand this, it is something that can't be explained. If you ever get the chance to watch the movie "We were Soldiers", a good friend of mine (who now lives in Mexico) was one of the few who came home from that firefight (off the hill).

If you have never been there, please refrain from making comments on the Military, and those who serve.
Agreed on the whole protecting each other statement but the point I was making is that they shouldn't have been there in the first place which once again brings us back to that it sucks lives were lost for in manys oppion nothing and um.... once again it's a free country so I'll share my comments on this situation even thought I wasn't born yet.

Good song but I wouldn't expect anything less then a good song frm Big&Rich!!!

Perhaps my choice of words were wrong. CMU has the right to express his opinion, as he states, it is a free country.

This is why I should stay out of the Political forum area.

IIRC, Greg Kinnear's role in that movie is the capacity in which RICK actually served. He's mentioned it before, but I do not recall where he flew or who with - it was an old MJ thread. I thought it was 1st Cav.

That song really makes you think when you hear it about the cost of our freedom. Another song that does that inspires a similar feeling is the song about the soldier buried at Arlington. One of the things I love about country music is how patriotic it is.

Really? Huh....I have lots of friends from the South Vietnamese Airborne Regiments who'ld tell you differently. No political BS. Guys who spent 5-8 years in NV prisons after we left being "re-educated". I'm quite sorry, but you don't know what you're talking about.

please make a list for me CMUJEEPER of wars conflicts and troop deployments "we should have been in the first place"

Is there any conflict with any merit or are you a pascifist and i just never noticed a post where you out and out declared your pascifism.

Just curious of your opinion if any conflict merits troop deployment.

Arlington by Trace Adkins................my wife is at the concert right now. He is with Jason Aldean, and Keith Anderson. That song also means something to Tye Died....his grandfather is burried there.

Iceman, I love the movie "we are soldiers".

Is there anyone else who can't watch a realistic war move, documentary, video etc and not break a tear? I do all the time. I have a real soft spot for soldier/veterans and children. Those two subjects will make me shed a tear at a drop of a hat.

I was a mess when I watched Band of Brothers. I had to keep tissues next to the couch.

Yea, according to CMU, we should disban the millitary and only start it back up if someone e-mails us and lets us know they are going to invade our country on a specific date. I think the ordinary notice time for invasion is 90 days so that would be enough to get the millitary back in operation....according to CMU.

Reminds me a lot of George Carlin's definition of a "civil" war.
