Default O2 Sensor simulator

I have a '97 Dodge pickup with a 5.9 engine. It has dual exhaust (Flo-Masters). There is no catalytic converter on it. Of course, I get the "Check Engine" light all the time and it's driving me nuts.

Both the upstream and downstream O2 sensor were removed. Will one of the O2 sensor simulator's work and keep the "Check Engine" light from coming on? Also, with a simulator attached will the "Check Engine" light come on if another problem is detected?

With the upstream O2 sensor taken out, will my air/fuel mixture be o.k.? Will the ECM be damaged without having the upstream or downstream O2 sensors? Which O2 sensor simulator should I buy? Thanks for any help.

Search for this... its been brought up a lot but the upstream O2 is needed for a fueal air... its kind of a backup but you should have it... the simulater will get rid of the rear O2 and the light. The check engine will work fine after that.

You need both sensores for your engine to operate correctly, however, you can get by with just the front O2 sensors.

You'll pay for them in the first month on fuel savings alone.

No, it is not a backup, it is needed for the feedback control in the ECU. Without it, the ecu just throws fuel in based on a small table. Depending on other modes, this ammount may be rich, or it may be lean.

People that have no clue about automobiles and modify them (the person/s that removed Hombre's O2 sensors for him) should be beaten soundly.

i thought that after cat sensor mostly just to tell you if the cat wasnt working right. and if some misinformed person thought removing a good working cat would gain them 5000 horsepower then you put the sim in and the computer wouldnt know the cat was gone
