Default 1992 explorer sport steering

I wanted to see if the steering box on these explorers are adjustable? The tie rods/ball joints/ idler arms ect are new and tight, going down the road, when you turn right and it's nice and tight, when you turn left there is about 2-3 inches of slop in the steering wheel. Kinda like driving a old farm truck. I can get a steering box for like $40 bucks... but if it's as easy as adjuting a bolt or screw it be cool. Thanks
