i did it on the yj that is in my avatar and i really wish i wouldnt have. after doing alot more research and seeing first hand multiple sets of leaf spring being bent i would have done a shackle reversal. the reason i chose to put the shackles on the bumper is so i could get my jeep lower. hindsight is always 20 20! i guess it doesnt matter because that thing is going to end up getting linked before i finish it anyways

Rule of thumb;
Water is 8
Gas is 6

I think the way you have the front springs will work fine. As long as it didnt totally kill the approach angle then you'll never know they are up there. The problem with doing a shackle reversal is that you need a driveshaft with TONS of slip and the worst trait is while climbing a steep ledge with a sharp break over, the front will unload and pull the axle out from under the truck, at that point, all sorts of bad things are happening.

As long as the front axle is locked and you arent pulling on an undercut then you shouldnt have any problems with the springs getting bent. If you are linking it soon, run it as-is.

Why not make a cage to go over it and help sandwich it to the floor?

well I'm sitting at MEPS right now waiting to leave for basic. my dad, and mr. crawl should have her finished by the time I get back in mid september. I'm going to try and visit the badlands that weekend. I'll make sure I get some good pics.

also this is the cage design I'm shooting for. also a fix for the fuel cell problem:

hows the navy treating ya? i might go wheeling with ya out a kennys this winter let me know, im still not letting this fuel cell thing go, they wouldnt take all that time welding those tabs in place if they didnt want you to use them. (probably way past that problem by now any way .) just my two cents
