Default *SOLD* Mobile Pole Barn (box truck) w/pics.

:tonka:

1984 GMC Vandura 3500 Box truck

- carbed 350 (claimed to be 4-bolt)/TH400
- Regular passenger van nose/cab with highback buckets.
- Dana 70 dually rear (should be the big-bearing model)
- 4.10 gears
- I forget the miles
- PS/PB, manual windows & locks
- Pretty big box, door to cab, some rust on cab.
- Will measure box tonight, but its tall.
- New alternator & belt, bumped up the amps also.
- Passenger exhaust manifold gasket leaking.
- Just picked up a pair of vinyl van seats in great shape, so you will have 1 spare seat also in gerat shape.

I drove this truck from Highland to work in Dearborn for two days (few hundred miles) with no problems other than figuring out that it actually had the wrong alternator on it. Runs well except for the tick from the exhaust leak and could benefit from a carb cleaning.

Its fine for a work truck or if you want extra storage around the house (like if your township doesn't like parts in the yard). I picked it up for parts runs since I have had to deal with bad weather a few times and have also had concerns about security with a pickup or a trailer. With the box truck, nothing gets wet and its lockable. Right now its doing shed duty next to the pole barn. Great for carrying around motorcycles, quads or sleds. You can fit two bikes, maybe 2 or 3 quads, a sled (maybe two opposite each other, or even a couple jetskis in it. It does fine on the highway, but don't expect a NASCAR performance - it drives just like the box trucks in the GTA games. :tonka: A 700r4 would probably do wonders for its performance and mileage with the lower 1st gear & overdrive - I kicked it around with KillerB about doing one if I keep it.

$600 obo.

SOLD

Default Box Van

Howdy,

Do you have pictures?

Is there access to the back from the cab?

Can a person stand up in the box?

How long is the box?

Thanks,

Doug Donner

I have to move it tonight, so I will take some pics.

There is a door to cab (sliding), as I mentioned above.

I don't know the length - will measure tonight. I know the box is over 8' long. It could be 12'. You can stand up, put your arm up, and possibly not touch the ceiling in the box depending on how tall you are. You can probably drive a stock CJ up into it.

Almont is a little hike, but I can get from Lake Orion to my house in a little over 30 minutes by taking Clarkston Rd. into Clarkston and then picking up White Lake Rd. to Highland. If you want, you can come out to eyeball it and drive it around pretty much any weeknight or over the weekend.

Sounds good. It might work well for a project I'm working on. I'll know better when I see pictures.

Thanks,

Doug

Picked up a 700r4 for it & have a new torque convertor for it. Price adjusted. Price will change again if trans work is kicked off by KillerB.

I forgot to take the pics last night. :miff:

This truck is perfectly useful as-is, but if you really wanted to go through the trouble and you don't have a use for a box truck, I guess you could cut it up for the 4-bolt 350 and the D70 rear. Maybe sell off the D70 and take the body to the scrapyard to recover the $ if all you want is the motor.

depending on the vic canever quote, it may be cheaper for me to buy this, and bolt some car seats in the back for the wife's new DD...

actually, for your price, I'm surprised that someone hasn't just grabbed it to do as you just stated, make a couple of parts runs with it, then cut it up for a rig build up.

People are f'in lazy. It would be a great sled or ATV hauler. That's one of the reasons why I was contemplating converting it to 4wd.
