Default trannys? i have a 97 ram 4x4 help help help

i was wondering if a 2500 or 3500 dodge ram trans would fit on a 5.9 motor from out of a 97 4x4 1500 pickup. what yrs are all they same. trying to make it easyier to find a transmission for my truck.

if your talking about a 5.9 gas, then yes, there the same from 96-02. i think the gassers came with 518's, or 46re's if im not mistaken.

yes the 5.9s only came with a 46re after 96/97 before that they were a 46rh. the only difference being one is electronicly controled, other is hydraulic. they are a 3 speed with overdrive. the main tranmission is actualy a torque flite 727.
