well draw it out in your head then on a piece of paper. Come up with a frame and body, or if its going to be a buggy then design the tube lay out. Figure out what style suspension your using, like links, leafs, eliptical, independent. there is a whole lot more than that but it'll get you started.

you should wheel more and learn more about it before you build a crawler. they are expensive and take skill and money to build. what do you plan to do with the finished product. learn how to pick lines with 33s before you go to 42s i would suggest.

any time in your rig in dirt counts. But the parts you listed above are good for building any off road ride.

For a tight budget, find a good frame that is leaf sprung and mostly setup to run the 5.8L engine you already have. I would also suggest finding a decent body that will fit on the frame (almost anything can be "made" to work, all depends on your skill level) and wheel the piss out of it. It will be cheap, simple and get the job done. Not only that you won't spend 2 years building it and risk giving up or losing interest. From there you can make minor or major changes based on what you plan to do with it.

MOST OF ALL --- Build It SAFE. If you have any questions about something just ASK. Many one this forum have firsthand knowledge and great ideas. A rig is now good if it puts peoples safety and lives at risk any time they are near it.

Search for buggies you like and ideas you like, place the parts you have on jack stands in the garage and lay them all out like they are in the vehicle. Make the axles above the bottom of the drivetrain, keep the engine as low as possible, double check numbers, and then start buying materials and bending tube until it looks like something. Once you think you have some progress, sell everything you dont have to have to finance the rest of it. Give up every last minute you have to building, researching and paying for parts and once you think you have a deadline figured out, double it and your budget.... then you might be getting close.

Or you can just buy one for about 1/4 what it would cost to build and have a lot of time, money and freedom to enjoy it.
