There really is no "wheeling" on public land! Unless you head to one of the public parks, IE St. Helen Motorsport Area which is no where near your described area.

Find yourself a Michigan Atlas and Gazetteer, these have trails marked on them.
Now after having found one of the map books your homework begins, you will need to make sure you are on public land and the trails are traversable by a conventional two wheel drive automobile. Some trails could pass through private property which you would need a plot book for that area to make sure you stay on public land.

Most forest roads on state land you will need to be SOS licensed (secretary of state) unless posted as a route. All Federal land will require you to go the the district headquarters and get a travel map that will show which roads and trails are open in that particular forest.

So with all of this having been said, if you do not do your homework you will more than likely end up with a ticket or a pissed off property owner at the least.

Please keep it legal!
