Nice! I went on the Muskegon in Evart today. Saw the Bald Eagle. No pics, solo- just Eli and I, first real paddle of the year.

Never thought I would miss living on the water as much as I do. Not feasible in the high rent district I'm currently in

Thank-you.
I tried to get a pic of 2 pileated woodpeckers Monday. I failed. I've never seen them act the way they were. Weird!
Still trying to get a good pic of the Eagles on the river.

Some pictures from our trip near Manistique last week:

The Wilfred Sykes pulling up for a load of limestone

A nice angle of the bridge:

One of my boys playing in the forest

Underneath the cut river bridge

Another shot of the big mac, with a nicely timed freighter.

All of these, except the Sykes were shot with my new Sigma 10-20mm wide angle lens. Really enjoy this lens, allows for very different shots than I was used to. The picture of my son is an example of how you can keep a close up subject in the front and still capture a large amount of scenery. The Wilfred Sykes photo was shot with my 300mm Nikon lens, from a distance I'm estimating to be about 1 mile. It went by 3 different times, the late afternoon lighting was perfect that time, and there was no haze in the air.

Yeah, when you drive over it, you'd never know whats down there. Have been going to the UP since the 70s, my parents showed us that once, so I always like to stop. That was a test of the new lens, since its FOV is greater than 90 degrees, I could see all the way down the bridge, and all the way underneath.

I accidentally had the White Balance set to Tungsten on that pic, leftover settings from some indoor work. Thats why the colors are goofy, I messed with it in photoshop to warm it up a bit, but now it has the fluorescent green tone.

I thought you could go back and change the white balance settings after the fact with the raw file? I'm obviously a novice so that could be a very stupid statement.

Those were shot on jpg. I used white balance tools in photoshop, but couldn't get the balance where I wanted. Maybe lightroom would have worked better, but I wasn't at home, and didn't have my 100000 page manual to remember how to use it.
