Default side by side

so i just got home from the dunes and after watching those side by sides me and the wife decided we are going to buy one. i was talking to a guy that had custom built teryx's from arizona that had back seats put in the bed area, so i figured i would do the same but im torn between a rino and the teryx (looks like you cant do it to a razr s) or get a polaris with the bed on the back like the rino or teryx.

any one own one of these things they can tell me the pros and cons on so i can make the decision on what one to buy.

One of these should do the trick for you. I have been in both but in the two seater versions and they were a blast. Of course the rzr is more sport and would be more fun on the dunes.

I have owned 2 RZR's, one standard and one S model...both were a blast, but for the dunes...you can't beat the RZR-S.

Do you want a 4 seater for 4 adults or 2 adults + 2 kids? If it is for kids, Vent racing makes a cage extension for the RZR that allows you to put a bench seat in the back, but the leg room is a little limited...good for a kid or two, but not much for adults back there.

If you want it for 4 adults, the RZR-4 is the best option. It will ride 10x better than a Rhino or Teryx on the sand (and will outrun all of them too), and will handle MUCH better than the 2 seaters with the 4 seat conversions.

But Polaris is supposed to announce their 2011 model lineup sometime next month...rumor has it that there are 4 new/redesigned models in the RZR lineup, and possibly an 1100cc motor to compete with the new Can Am Commander 1000....so you may want to wait until their press release.

If you aren't set on getting a new one, check out some of the UTV forums...you can snag up some well built used machines for some big savings...take a look in the classifieds at:

Keep in mind that if you plan on hitting some of the state ATV trails, the standard RZR is the only one you can do this in legally, being 50" wide. All of the other makes/models are too wide to fit...I found this out the hard way this past weekend on the Leota trail system. Not going to happen on any side x side besides the standard RZR, my RZR-S sure couldn't squeeze through.

I am seriously thinking of ditching my jeep and buying a rzr as my 4x4 toy. The one that hung with us at bundy a few months ago seemed unstoppable.

If it's between a Teryx and a Rhino thats an easy choice. Teryx. I've owned both (I owned a rhino before the teryx was invented) and sold plenty of both. The 750 fuel injected V-Twin on the Teryx has better torque and HP and also sounds better. The Razr is probably a good machine too and also fast but felt too small for me personally.

The razor is good for the 50" trails in stock form. that is a big selling factor for some. I have driven the Rangers a Rhino's and they kinda suck on cornering as they sit high. I watched and idiot at the dealer in Canton roll one in the parking lot screwing around

i wonder why you would pick the kawasaki??? oh yea your dealership has them...
get a yamaha if you want reliability and are not concerned with performance or speed. get a razor for flat out fun, but they do have some reliability issues.the new can am looks sweet also.whatever you buy, get it street legal and go have fun.

BYC Motorsports and Side by Side Industries both sell weld it yourself 4 seat cage kits for the Rhino and Teryx. I just did the SxS cage on my Rhino and put a rear bench seat in the back for my kids. If you can weld it's definitely the way to go - about $700 shipped. Most shops around here wanted $1200+ to build a cage for me.

Cheapest bench seat is through Rhino Giant for $300. Harnesses with automotive style latch can be purchased through Poly Performance for $50 each.

That's my entire setup. If you want to see some pics, PM me your email address.
