Kudos for actually putting in some effort in search of answers. No need for me to call them because there is no doubt my trucks had 2-3/4" wide springs. And because you still will not believe it, here is a picture from the shackle end clearly showing the stock spring eye at 2-3/4" on an 88 burb. Please explain how that can “fan out”.



Doing a little digging it looks like the 88 - 91 K5s, Suburbans and 1 ton pickups that all had 2-3/4" wide front springs. So Chevy K5 stock front springs can be 2-3/4" or 2-1/2" wide depending on the year.

well thanks to everyone for the help, sorry my question turned into a heated argument about who was right and who was wrong.. in my oppinion if you have never made a mistake your not working fast enough..
