Default Obama will skip the Memorial Day Ceremony?

Do you approve of Obama's decision to skip the Memorial Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery to go on vacation?

I voted yes because he will still be attending Memorial Day services at a national cemetery in Chicago. As long as he's doing something related to remembering our veterans, I'm OK with it; service members laid to rest in the less famous national cemeteries deserve some attention as well.

as president, it should be considered his duty to be at Arlignton

that said, I agree with Howell Jeep...the guy is about as un-American as they come, even if he is the president

Why should he have to be just at Arlington? If he is at some other cemetery with vets what is the diff?

Or is it just something for You to bitch about?

I Agree with the others that say that as long as he's Remembering them somewhere it's Ok. The Vets aren't going to be any less remembered at Arlington because the president isn't there. Their Sacrifice for this country will not be thought of as less.

what does it matter? The veterans will be honored by Rolling Thunder during the weekend, along with many others. To me, other veterans honoring those who have passed away is better than someone who "has to be there due to a job obligation". Add in the fact he is attending a service in Chitown, what is the beef?

How many of you bitching that he won't be there plan on going to a memorial service this weekend? Not a parade handing out candy and shit, but an actual memorial service??

as I said, it should be considered the presidents duty to be at the service at Arlington, since it is at least the most recognizable military cemetary, and the holiday is about remembering the fallen soldiers and what they died for. This is a ceremony, so being done at one cemetary versus another is a moot point, since all are remembered.
in my personal and honest opinion, any president who does not attend the Memorial day service at Arlington may as well be pissing on the soldiers graves. Is the president not the commander in chief? Should he not be expected to honor the fallen soldiers, some of which may have gave thier lives because of his orders, or lack of?

the Arlington cermeny is bigger, more publicized, etc, and Arlington is much more recognizable to the public. By visably showing his support for the troops, the general public will feel more inclined to show thier support, and some may actually learn some of the history of this country.

granted, this is all just opinion, and not trying to claim any of it as fact in any way, so take it for what its worth. I still feel that all presidents should attend the service at Arlington...well, if they had a relative or friend buried at another cemetary, then I could understand them attending the ceremony there

what is his reason for attending the ceremony at a different cemetary?

He's attending a ceremony in his home state. He is still honoring the veterans.

Again I ask, why does it matter? Only counts if it is the big, publicized event?

Which ceremony you guys attending???
