That would cut it down to almost half the traffic.

ah, my dad had 3 different trans ams from roughly that era, one a '76, that I still remember hit hard enough to send the radio knobs flying off when he grabbed 2nd gear (bad radio knob stalks?) a '78, and an 81 I think.

one of them must have been the 455? he bought them all brand new, and well, it's going a LONG ways back into my early childhood to remember them :o

and I upbrowsed to find the pic you meant to link. funny photoshopping of the miata :p

that would cut down on not only the undesired traffic, but the desired traffic as well.

one of my best friends has an early 70s grabber green shelby gt350 mustang. his neighbor behind him is a chevy nut, and has a minty split window vette, as well as a freshly restored big block chevelle, and 2 or 3 other cars that I haven't seen yet. He runs them hard too, at milan, and lapeer if I recall correctly.

he's had them in battle alley in holly for their shows, as well as at the wdc. a couple of his very good friends are usually the drivers for the ones that he's not personally driving at that moment. (as far as I know, he won't trailer them anywhere, unless he has broken them...)

I am going from memory, but that '76 was probably the 455 car, possibly with ram air as well... unless he had an older one yet...

I cannot remember the years that had 455's in them, i know a lot of the early cars did. My dad has a 1978 that looks like the smokey car as it came from the factory in those colors before the smokey edition came out. (it was built in 1977) We currently are in the process of putting the motor back in, spun #8 bearing with 50k on the ticker. Ironically enough it happened going to Woodward. But when I turn 32 the car was promised to me, I love driving it, a very fun car.

He was set on buying a 1978 Monte Carlo, walked out of the Smokey movie and went and bought the T/A new off the lot.

All the random non-classic vehicles are why I don't bring my car there anymore.

dad's '76 was stolen off the fisher body employee parking lot when it was less than 2 months old. never recovered. he picked another one up a few months later identical to the first, so I guess technically, he had 4 transams total.

the '81 nearly caused a divorce... here, my mom was at home, with us 4 boys (born in a 6 year time span) and my dad goes out and buys an '81 brand new, without consulting her...

he didn't have it very long

the literally 1 million people, combined with the congestion, escalating prices for food/drink during the event, as well as lines, lines, and more lines are why I don't drag my tired white ass there...

But when I did sit on the side, I didnt mind the jeeps and shit, if it's modified it belongs. If its the family minivan get it outta there. Different strokes for different folks. A cruise is about the cars and the pride you have in 'em not how old it is... No one wants to see a Pinto either but hey its old so cruise it.

Well your Trans Am doesn't qualify anyways so leave it at home and ease the congestion. I have gone almost every years since it started and I love it. I expect that it is going to be way crowded. With that in mind if I just want to sit and watch I take the back roads and hit Woodward around 13 mile then just walk. If I want to cruise start early enough in Ponticrack and make a loop or two.

Your comment about if it's modified it belongs doesn't work because half of the guys in Pontiac with rims and some subs consider their cards modified I gurantee.

Sure there are alot of people, but you can easily park within 1/4 mile of Woodward on any street, and walk around, checking out the parked vehicles, and the cruising vehicles, with no problem. I'm not sure what lines you are talking about. There are no lines to look at the vehicles. Getting to the event is no problem. If you are coming from the west, park in a subdivision west of Woodward. From the east, park on the east side. It's no big deal.

The best thing to do is to find a friend who lives 2 house off of Woddward, and attend their party. Then you'l have a place to go get drunk, and a clean bathroom to use, in between shifts of watching the great diversity of vehicles cruising the strip.

Bullshit its 28 years old... classic car status is given at 25

That and you just dont see clean ones, they were the last big motor'ed cars of the era... 79+ they started getting smog clamped down and 403's that were shitty motors. Then it went to V-6 2.8's and 350's

If thats the case a 'Kit' car needs to stay home too as its not even old enough (think kit Cobra or a kit T-bucket) :tonka:

I will be driving the Scrambler this year (I meant come on, its 21 years old!). I live a block away from Woodward and my Jeep is a custom one of a kind vehicle.

May drive the Z06 too on one of the other days! Its all about car guys loving their cars! I see alot of new Vipers, Ford GTs, and etc that aren't classic, but I love seeing them!

P.S. BioBill, I need one of those stickers "My Jeep can run over your classic car"

I'll be taking my vette out on Thursday evening. For the last five years, Thursday has a good turnout, and the yahoo/moron factor is kept to a manageable level.

This'll be the fifth year I've taken it, so it appears that it either was unwelcome the first year I took it (not 25 years old yet), or every year (including this one) since it was built after 75.
