Default stolen handgun

i purchased back in feburary a handgun from a gun shop, i have a cpl and walked out with the gun that day, last week i got a phone call from the city of fenton police saying the gun i purchased in feburary was just reported stolen and i had to return it to them for evidence, now im out my money and was wondering if anyone has any ideas on what to do?

I think your fucked. I'd try to get your money back from the gun shop since they originally purchased a stolen weapon and sold it to you.

But I don't know if that will work.

I would contact the gun shop and demand you get your money back, or pick out another gun.

The store is at fault. If they bought it from someone they should have paid to run it to make sure they were not selling a stolen weapon. Obviously they didn't. Id demand my money back and take my business to a more reputable dealer.

Any gun shop worth their salt would refund you your money. The shop obviously already knows about the stolen gun, because thats how the police found out you had it. I would go down and visit the shop, ask to speak with a manager/owner, and explain the situation in a calm, polite manner. I really dont think you will have a problem getting your money back, or at least another gun.

he's in fenton so he either bought it from guns galore or williams but i'd put my money on guns galore. If they sold you a stolen gun you should run their ass through the ringer! I have a cpl and buy guns all the time from williams and if one was stolen i'd get a full refund and then some

Quoted for the reading comprehension impaired.

How is the gun shop supposed to know a gun was stolen if it wasn't reported before the time of sale?
