Default Turbo problem

Ok so lately i have been noticing that my truck has been smoking quite a bit of white/bluish oil smoke from the exhaust when i get on it hard and then sometimes when i let off the pedal

could it be the turbo letting oil into the exhaust side and getting burnt up?

at first i was thinking it was injector o-rings but the fuel bowl is clean and it does it under load

it still runs perfect and starts fine

i am thinking its the turbo because it just started to keep spinning even after the truck is shut off for a few seconds which it never used to do and i pulled the intake off and there was a bit of oil residue on the intake side of the turbo but very very little shaft play, no enough for it to hit the side

what else should i be looking at rather than just throwing parts at it?

mods are a ts 6 position chip i run at 50hp all the time, no cat, no muffler and exhaust dumped just after the cab, have a s and b cold air intake also

pull the intake side tube off the turbo, see if there is oil puddled up in front of the vains, grab the center shaft and see if there is any movement, you may also see some scoring on the side of the housing from the vains hitting it

ok there should be no movement, i use superior turbo and injection in detroit for all my turbos, 313-842-4616 ask for craig, they will probly have a stock unit rebuilt and ready to go, or they can build/ upgrade yours. they can also test them there before you get a new one. hope that helps

You say very little shaft play and no marks from contact - so that's good; the oil residue upstream of the turbo is from your PCV system and relatively normal.

How fast are you using oil?
