Default 71 blazer build

This isn't a restore just a overall clean up and process for new ideas and tips....
So i'm open good suggestions

1st pic is how it looked when i picked it up

2nd is front tear down to stop the rot and ordered a dual battery tray from ruffstuff

3rd pic is topless and starting to patch and troubleshoot electrical.

4th is core support stripped , just waiting for warm weather to paint

since i'm waiting on the 1 inch body lift with new mounts and a patch panel for the core support I've had today to throw this together.

Once all this is completed, just need the windshield and hopefully a minor engine problem fixed to put it on the road.

specs, 350 4speed trans, (hoping for the muncie) haven't been under it enough to verify) along with a Np205

the front dana 44 has been rebuilt and new brakes, just going to make sure the rears are in working order

list of upgrades coming, rollcage, 4' lift and 35's, new seats and rhino line the interior.

Cool looking project. Hope to see some pictures when you get it all back together. Always liked the convertable old school Blazers.

70/71's are one of my favorite trucks... I looked at a 71 the other day it was 2 tone white and orange original colors.

I will be watching this build as well

Default New Tires

New tires and topless, (thanks to robo-3 for the tires)

was hoping the 1" body lift would be delivered yesterday so the body is sitting on the frame at the moment.

waiting on the new battery tray and core support patch.

4" lift, windshield, rollcage ...before its on the road

going to start designing custom winch bumper also.

Body lifts suck to begin with, but isn't one foot a bit much

Those Blazers are the best! I had one and it was a blast cruising around with the entire roof off. It is on my list of trucks to get if finances ever allow. Good luck with your build and keep the pictures coming.

whats you lift specs, the stance looks close to what i'm looking for.

Also, do you have a cage? I'm wondering how to do mine and where to support it from the frame? With the way they have the original rocker boxes in the way, it's looks to be a pita. (I dont want to put the cage mounts right on top through the middle of the floor like so many others do)

BTW core support has been fixed and front clip and new body mounts with body lift will be reinstalled with more pics this weekend.

front clip done, have a line in lenox on a actual 71 grill, found out the one i have is the wrong year.

new windshield tomorrow

new battery tray and battery

(note to self) never do 30 yr old body mounts without a cutting torch

doors suprisingly lined back up after the mounts were replaced.

need to solve some electrical issues.

Nice, My friend has a 72 jimmy... I think is has a 69 front end tho. It has a full cage... Its pretty beat tho... But its got a crate motor that probably only has like 5000 miles on it.

windshield is installed

new waterpump and 3 core radiator

found out previous owners threw in the 350 while keeping the 1 row 6 cylinder radiator in it.

fixed leaking oil pan gasket

have some pinion angles to fix and found out i have a rockwell t221 transfer case.

also got all the dashboard and heater controls working.

btw that cross member at the bottom will be getting fixed, someone hit something hard enough to twist it, it's supposed to be vertical down there. when i pulled the dash board pad off, i found a nice dent in the metal underneath, i hope it wasn't someone' forehead.

Default Updated

roll cage started with tons of parts ready to put in.

pro-comp dual steering stabilizer
new door seals
120 ft of 1-1/4 sch 40 poop pipe

and borrowing someones pipe bender

for my first time doing a cage and just learning everything here, i think it came out better then average (and yes i stole some ideas from some other blazers i've seen)

and the hardtop still fits over it.
