I don't normally participate in the politics of offroading, but I did a simple email. Hope it helps.

[QUOTE=SHARPMACHINE;2235398]I sent a short sweet e-mail =
Hello,

I am an educated, hard working, voting tax payer who lives in Michigan. My family and many of my friends support bills = 6159, 6160, 6161, and 6162. Please represent me, my family and friends in Michigan, by helping these bills get passed. I do not want to have to travel to another state to spend my money and enjoy the outdoors. Although some people will object to the cost of the $30 annual permit, I feel it is well worth the cost to have and maintain trails close to home.

Thanks,

Good letter, just did the copy and paste and sent it off. I did add a short sentence addressing the $30 increase, it's well worth it to me.

Thanks Pat for all the hard work!

Jason,

Thanks so much for your email. I'm still studying the pros and cons of these bills and listening to testimony in committee. I know they will open more state land, which I support, but also include a new fee system that I want to make sure is warranted and fair. I have these and other concerns that I hope will be addressed in committee as we continue to review the bills.

I also understand that the DNR does not support the bills without some changes, and because that will impact some member's decisions, the sponsor is working to find middle ground. Again, I appreciate having your support for the bills and will have it in mind in the days ahead.

Sincerely,

Kenneth B. Horn
State Representative
94th District

Rep Horn was one of the more active respondents when I sent my letters - he and I exchnaged several e-mails, seems like a reasonable guy. Unfortunately my State Rep, who also sits on the committee, was content to send a nice generic "Thank you for your recent correspondence" letter from a staffer. I got a more meaningful response from the office of the Rep who passed away in December.....
