I am going to build some longarms for the front of my jeep this week and I am torn on how to do it. I have a pile of 1.25 hiems and weld in bungs (overkill, yes, but I have them) and I also have some rubber bushings. On the axle end should I drill out the brackets and grind my misalignment spacers down a pinch and use hiems on both ends or do I use the rubber bushings on the axle end. I am going to use the hiems on the frame end.

Edit - I am using the rubber on one end. Way easier.

Got the lower part of my longarms built and the brackets welded out. I also got the front axle ripped out today. I picked up a hp d30 that already had 4:56 gears in it. I just have to swap my locker and shafts over to it.

Maybe an inch max, I'll see what I can get away with without having to deal with driveshaft, steering box and track bar modification. I want to get it going without letting it turn into a big ass project. I'm sick of jack stand jeeps. :Sonicjay:

Looks good Chad!

So what are you thinking - radius arm, 3 link, 4 link?

Basic radius arm style long arms. I'm going for easy and fast.

Awesome. You going to make your own brackets for the lowers(to mount uppers), or buy something like Rustys pre-made mounts?

I'll build something, I got a lot of random brackets and tabs laying around that I can modify.

Just out of curiosity I was looking for the mounts to put the uppers onto the lowers and I am coming up with nothing. Do you have a link?

That's what I was thinking!

Ruffstuff makes a universal tab that you could buy a few and make your own if you wanted.
