I was planning on it but I found out my mom is having our family Christmas party the 21st. I'm hoping to drive over and hang out for a while and get home in time for the party.

If there's one that really stands out the most to me in this thread, it's the welds. Chad, you do an amazing job! Where did you learn to weld?

I wish my mom could weld that good!

Practice is key to becoming better at anything, unless you just suck.

Weld is something I would love to learn to do, but don't really have access to welders or people with free time to teach me

my dad and grandpa taught me by putting me in front of it and saying do it.

You broke your shaft going up a snow covered bank?? What size tire are you running? Is the shaft broke or did the U Joint fail?

The snow covered hill is a little trickier than it appears in pictures. It is in my back field and has seen a fair amount of action. It's got some ruts that make the top half lean further than vertical. I couldn't quite get it so I may have done a little bit of a popawheelie and not let off the gas in time 35s, locker, 456 gears and a sbc didn't mix too well luckily the friendly fellas down at ROCKSOLID are ordering me a new one. It is nice having an off-road shop 5 minutes down the road!

The shafts are broken for sure but as for the u joint it is hard to say..... I did get a metal detector at our company Christmas party so I could bust it out and see if I can find the u joint and report back if it is broken or not

I actually gave up a long time ago on trying to figure out how to make nice looking welds. Now I just booger them on, grind them smooth and add the ripples with an engraver!

On the bright side I do have all this laying in the barn right now. I'm going to get started fabbing on them this winter so it should be an easy swap when I do it.

That's not a bad technique as long as you cover the welds with another X weld. I saw that technique in another high tech build thread somewhere.

If TVJunkie does not post in your thread then we know who must be behind the curtain.
