Default Our yj aka Louie with a 460

So just picked up an 87 with no motor. Plans at the moment are basic its going to be a trail rig.
- soa
- 4.0 ax15 231
- 36s
- Lights
- winch
- Aussie front welded rear
I was going to put the axles out of the Cherokee in it but daxl is giving me a good deal on his old axles already soa with 4.10s. So for now its sticking to 30 and 35. Once I break the 35 and I'm sure we will upgrade from there. The next major goal is a 5.0, then I'm sure the axles will hate me. So far I cut the rockers out and I'm doing 2x6 for rockers/ rock sliders. This weekend I'm hoping to have the motor set in it and start the wiring process. Its the first yj I've built. I have some pics but I have no idea how to load them so I'll turn that over to my better half later on

Well I can vouch he has a yj....but if he's done anything more than taking it off the trailer or shopping GL I don't know.

If you cut that much off the rocker already why not boatside it? I would also take advantage of the rust that's left and open up the rear wheel well arches so you don't have to rework your sliders later.

I thought about boatsides. But after looking at it I'm not sure I need them. Also I had the steel for this haha. I was hoping to run the factory flares, I don't like the comp cut look at all. I know generally low is better but I do want it to sit over the 36s.

Comp cut without a stretch looks silly. I wasnt suggesting that. What I was suggesting is cutting along the line where the flares used to sit.

I think a 2x6 welded into the side of the tub is going to look silly.
