Ya I drove all day today and it was a blast. The only reason I want a cage is for wheeling. I couldn't tell any difference in body flex when I climbed a couple hills today.

I wheeled mine with the doors off at Bundy, and wound the suspension up pretty good all day. the doors dropped right on and closed fine when I was done at the end of the day. If the floor is all rotted out the thing will twist like crazy too. I don't think tube doors will stop it from twisting all that much either.

Looks sweet as is!!!!!

It will take more then a couple hills or one day of wheeling the bend up the unibody. You should plate the sides of the frame in the front too . They like to break by the steering box.

Just the sides or the bottoms too? someone else mentioned this too. What about a steering box brace? Is that something I need?

Thanks for the info I think I'm going to do that this weekend. Is there a cheap upgrade for the steering box on a XJ? Will a ZJ one work?

I don't know on that jeep it's not mine. We used 3/16ths and the hole should be there already.

My buddy made tube doors out of 1st gen S10 blazer tire carriers for his grand. I'll try and get a pic of it.

Don't know about Xjs but they were just the right size for his doors no cutting down needed.

Man that was a good idea on those doors! They look good too.

Well I just went and pulled a ZJ gear box, now I need to know if the pitman arm from the ZJ will work on my XJ. It's on the gear box and if I don't have to pull it off that would be great!

If it's a gear box from a V8 Grand then you can leave the pitman arm on and it will give you a 1" drop which is 1 of the reason behind the this common swap.
