His name is Jake, he's at least 7 years old and we believe is a Carolina Dog (http://www.carolinadogs.org/
). He's about 60 lbs and 28-30" tall. He knows sit, stay, come, and some various tricks. He's also house trained and neutered. He's ok with kids including our 19 month old, but I would recommend only kids old enough to respect dogs and recognize when to leave the dog alone. He's clear about that and will walk away, go to his bed when he wants to be left alone. We're asking a $50 re-homing fee, but with that you can also have a well made dog house, lease/harness/collar, some toys, what dog food he has left, an overhead dog run chain, and maybe some other dog stuff if I'm forgetting something. I'll add some pictures later tonight. He's a smart dog, and I'm convinced he's trainable to be even better, it's just with the way things have changed in my family it may be best for him to move on. He's also a very strong dog, and my wife has a hard time controlling him on lease because of that.
Also, I want to be clear about what he is like. Overall, I think he's a great dog. I hate to do it, but he just does not fit well in the city because he has some territorial issues with other animals. However, he doesn't have any food aggression or toy aggression. Our 19 month old son can come right up to him and take food or toys and there's no problem from the dog. If I had the time I would work with him on the territory issues, but with my recent job change I don't have the time, and with our young son my wife doesn't have the time either. He really needs some room in the country where he can have some space without thinking other dogs are getting in "his" area. He does fine with other dogs when they are part of the family/pack, just not dogs outside his "pack."
