Default A good quote for the theocrats out there...

ďAnd even if we did have only Christians in our midst, if we expelled every non-Christian from the United States of America, whose Christianity would we teach in the schools? Would we go with James Dobsonís, or Al Sharptonís? Which passages of Scripture should guide our public policy? Should we go with Leviticus, which suggests slavery is ok and that eating shellfish is abomination? How about Deuteronomy, which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith? Or should we just stick to the Sermon on the Mount - a passage that is so radical that itís doubtful that our own Defense Department would survive its application? So before we get carried away, letís read our bibles. Folks havenít been reading their bibles.Ē

Reading your bible and understanding it are two different things. The bible says that we must be born again to fully understand the word of God.
James Dobson's version as his is from the whole bible, not what some people want and discard the rest.
As far as Big Al he is a racist and a trouble maker for the black race.

We have been down this road before Mike, the old testiment laws do not apply.
I can tell you only read your bible and not really understand it or you would know that.
Christ came and put away with the law.
Question for you, does your church have a bible study group?

Mike does not believe the founding fathers knew what they were doing when they printed bibles and promoted Christianity as the religion of choice for Americans. Not a law but a preferred religion.
And yes that dead horse keeps coming back to life, maybe God has something to do with it?

The founding fathers mention God quite a bit but I don't remember anything about Jesus Christ in particular. I believe the founding fathers were speaking of religion in general and not just the club of Christianity. I think Christians have somewhat of a self entitled mentality about religion in the United States.

Here is a little something to read. I guess my religious views are somewhat in line with Diest thinking.

I just attended a seminar on the Constitution. This type of thinking was echoed throughout the day when they were quoting the different authors of the Constitution. I don't think I read the name Jesus Christ in any of the quotes.

Read more of it if you have not seen the words of (God)Jesus Christ. Throughtout the writings of most if not all of the founding fathers had spoke about Christ and His teachings. The religion in general you talk about is which religion? Islam? No it is Christianity and evidence of it is in all government buildings throughtout this country.

So you will take the word of the instructors at your seminar but not what Christians say, because we are liars?

There are MANY religions that reference "God" that do not place Jesus Christ as second in Command.

Please post writings of founding fathers that mention Jesus Christ and/or Christianity as the prefered religion of The United States of America.

Acutally, the group that was holding the seminar was very Christian. The opening prayer was chock full of Jesus Christ references.

I wouldn't call Christians liars so much as misinformed. Their passion for Christ gets in the way of reasonable thinking (and logic) sometimes.

So when someone reads the bible for what it says and it makes no sense at all and counterdicts itself on many, many, levels its the readers fault for not "believing enough" to understand it? Sounds like cop out to me. Everytime someone can't explain stuff in the bible they just say "well you gotta have faith".

Before I became a Christian I would look through the bible and read parts of it and not understand it even now I can read areas and it goes right over my head. But the more I read it and study it passages become clear and understandable. I do attend a study at our church and it is good because the teacher explains our study to us just as when you go to school you need a teacher to instruct you. As far as not being able to explain stuff in the bible its about wisdom and knowledge not faith. Believeing in something you cannot see requires faith. Just like the wind, you know its there but you can't see it.
I believe that the bible was written for that reason, we need God to help us understand His word. Just as He said, "one needs to be born again to fully understand His word"

It is not to make Christianity look bad, it is the left and non-believers in this country attempting to remove God from our society. De/Nile is not just a river in Egypt.
