Default air/ water cooled. Which??

Looking to get an Enduro for riding into town (10 miles generally) and taking to the trails (bout 20 miles away) and I was wondering what the thoughts are on air vs. water cooled are.

Mainly being reliability, maintenance, and over heating issues.

I've heard rumor that air cooled dont do well on road though.

Bike I'm looking at is '94 Yamaha XT350

Any thoughts (on topic) are welcome. Thanks

I don't know why an air cooled bike would do poorly on the street, if anything you'd be going faster on the street, thus allowing more cooling for the engine.
