Default Ranger Crankshaft Snapped

So I have a 1998 ford ranger with the 4.0L with only 103,XXX miles. After work today i was on my way to the bank because it was payday and as i pulled into the bank parking lot and my truck stalled. I tried to restart it and it wouldnt start back up. So i get out and take a look under the hood and my harmonic balancer was halfway off. So i have my uncle pull me back to his house and i take the belt off and my crankshaft is broken right after the h.b... So i looked online to see if anyone else has experienced this problem and sure enough alot of people have.

Anyone know of a recall or anything for this so i dont have to pay for it?

I guess i shoulda stuck with the Chevy. I mean they already circled the problem for me.

Pics? Crankshafts dont usally break under dd duties, Kinda sounds like the balancer fell apart and maybe took out the crank sensor ( and it stalled)
