Default allegan forest off roading?

Went out to Allegan forest today to tryout new lift and trans case. We couldn't find much that is just a two track and most of them are blocked off or have sign's of saying no motorized vehicles. Do anyone know the area wanna go do some off roading hopefully some mudding around the area???

The DNR will pretty much string you up now they catch you doing that down there from what I understand. There used to be some spots over off 128th St. but its been an awlful long time since I have been through there.

You are good in the Allegan State Game Area if you stay on seasonal roads only. I DO NOT recommend going on and trails mark "no motorize vehicles, or any unmarked trails unless you are very familiar with the area.

you are good in the state game area if you follow the rules.....as in you are on a county maintained road, treat it as such, it is a real gray area when it comes to mud/water holes on the roads, and I don't think it is a fight you want to take up with DNR/county. Just use your head.

"no motorized vehicles" are usually the snowmobile trails - and as everyone said - your in the DNR's back yard - you do not want to get caught.

The whole area really grew up as well - so there are more houses around that shuttered many of the trials as well - like 5 corners (corner of 128th and old allegan rd) they shuttered the cross link back to 126th.

I used to like this trail that ran between 36th and 38th sts. north off 128th st. It was nothing tricky. There were a lot of mud runs off 38th on the way out to it though.

A lot of the snowmobile trails are leased from farmers during the winter.

No, snowmobile trails are not open to wheeled vehicles.

Was told by the DNR that snowmobiles are "low impact"; meaning they don't displace any dirt.

When I was a little kid I could displace dirt with a bicycle, and am sure I could do it if I wanted to. with shoes it's all too easy to displace a lil dirt. Will it kill any forest animals? No. Trees? No. Will it move dirt? I just said it would.

Holy crap time to ban nonmotorized off road recreation! Gotta save the forest from evil hikers now!
*sarcasm*

Seems that illegal wheeling would take a big hit if they had trails for us to run on.

DNR frowns on it big time. You spin a tire they can ticket you for wreakless driving. That road gets lots of travel. Very surprised not a lot of tickets issued there. Lots of local kids wheel that area. Allegan County Road Commision spent a lot of money on dirt and sand to "repair" the road. I would be very careful on 132nd ave.

I've "explored" allegan forest for 20 plus years.I've seen the dnr bust lots of idiots for being idiots, ive also had them watch me wade nut deep to hook a tree saver up and winch out of a very deep hole on a seasonal road, they were polite, glad to see me not using my throttle once i was stuck, and told me if i was on the "road"i was fine.that was a couple years ago, that was a cool dnr officer, your luck may be different.
Go explore the place in 2hi,its got some cool shit to see.If ya find a spot on the seasonal road where you need 4wheel drive use it,responsible, dont be a dick and the dnr probly wont treat you like one.
