Default Praying for the miners trapped in West Virginia.

I just heard that they're asking for people to pray that they find the four missing miners.

In the future, I believe that people should pray that the mine doesn't explode and kill 20 people, so then we don't have to pray that the other four live.

This would make a lot more sense.

If you don't believe in Prayer, why does it matter when and who other people pray for?

I'm just trying to help the people who believe.

It makes more sense to me to pray (if it works) to prevent a disaster, instead of praying after a disaster.

Its good that you want to help others, I commend you for that.

But if you are in a round about way asking, ........... Through God's Word, I know that sometime He Calms the Child, and sometimes He Calms the Storm. Many Believers take refuge in Prayer, and Pray all day for many reasons. This would just be another reason to pray. Its our way to communicate with God.

I don't expect you to understand this, but it is my Lame attempt at trying to give you some understanding.

I see what you're saying, but It just seems like if prayer can calm a storm, it should be able to prevent it.

Talking about prayer in the literal term (that thinking or talking to god can change the outcome of something) is silly. However if it provides comfort to the person praying, then more power to them.

If this were the case, they would stop digging and set up a prayer only rescue. It simply does work that way.

If someone wants to pray for personal or emotional reasons in the event of a disaster, or what not, be my guest. But please when someone does something to save these poor guys, don't say "Thank God! Our prayers were answered!" No, don't thank God, thank the guy who did something to save them instead of praying for someone else to do it. That is what bothers me, not the fact that people pray.

I'm still not a billionaire, hung like a damn Clydesdale or nailed Eva Mendes.

Prayers don't work.

exactly. If they find those guys based on a lot of work and excavating it will be a miracle from god, not the reward for the effort put forth.

CC, What makes you think they DIDN'T pray everyday for thier safety?

Prayer is a way to communicate with God what we would like. What we want, and what he wants are usually completely different; well, at least those that don't live in the will of God. Those that don't live in the will of God (Non-believers) should recognize that God will not grant you your "wishes" if they dont line up with his plan. This may sound selfish....however....

He, according to Christian theology, is the ultimate being and has a infallible plan for this existence. Weather you want to except this is your problem. When you create every thing, you can generally have say of what the things you created should/should not do.

That beings said, He has created each one of us according to his plan so our ultimate purpose in life is to be in the will Of God (IE, doing what he wants us, even better, created us to do). To be in the will of God allows us to live to what we are supposed to be doing. This can bring joy, Chances are, even if you don't believe, you're doing what God has designed you to do. (As far as Characteristics go, Loving, Caring, Encouraging, serving, ETC. This does not mean he wants you to stay in your sinful state)

Even as you read this, God plan is being played out as someone could actually be learning from this thread about God and could bring them closer to him. So, I guess I should thank you for doing the work of the Lord. Everyone.

So why did god kill them, instead of allowing them to finish off life in a better way. Think of the widows, the fatherless children, and the pain all these families have went through. Prayer should be 100% accurate, not hit or miss.
