Default ford 4 spd manual id

just went to the salvage yard and picked up the next part for the bronco...well its a 4 spd out of a 87 f150 4wd...i have looked online and looked at similar qualities of a t18, at the base of the shifter it has a giant round nut tha spins around the shifter that holds it inplace...so i thought it was a t18 or 19...but when i seen the shift pattern, with reverse up...i went and checked mine again and reverse is down simliar to a np435...also both the t18/19 and np435 have a pto drive plate on either the driver or pass side and my tranny has neither...what the nuts people...someone who knows help me...

I have 2 t18's with reverse down and right. 1979 and 80. Unless I misread your post, you're saying opposite- maybe it's a difference in year thing. The round spin on "cap" sounds like a t18 to me. Somewhere I have a link with all the t18 info year to year. My $.02.

BTW, it's in there... over and up is earlier years, over and down later. Hope it helps

What metal is the top cover made of? A T18 will be iron, while an NP435 will be aluminum.

i will have to look for the site again that said the t18 reverse was up...it apears to be cast...but what about the pto ports???cause everything had me saying t18 at first but then not having a pto port n the shift pattern i found...the other thing that i found odd was i figured that it would have the borg warner emblem stamped in it or np somewhere...but there are two ford logos on it and a whole mess load of numbers...ok so im gona go with the t18 or 19 my next question is how do you distinguish between the two...
