Not that it really helps a whole lot, but my buddy just bought an 04 RMZ-450, and he siad it has been by far the best bike he has ever owned. The thing keeps up with the KTM 525 until i shift into 6th.

Honestly, the early RMZ and KXF 250 (this was a joint venture between kawasaki and suzuki for the early 250 four strokes) motors had tons of issues with lunching bottom ends. They had a filter that would get plugged and stop oil flow down there ceasing a rod bearing. I thought the first year for the rmz/kxf was 05 but I could be wrong. I grew up racing and had my choice of any bike I wanted to run. I have ridden all 4 major brands but always owned and raced honda. The fit and finish and reliability are second to none.
