So i'm a Chevy guy and don't know to much about ford. So my uncle calls me and asks if i can come look @ his truck. he had the local Ford shop work on it. He said he heard a loud popping sound when he drove and figured it was the exhaust so he took it in. The ford dealership said a spark plug broke off and they had to get it out of the head. So i could only assume that the spark plugs haven't been changed in quit a long time. Now it's doing it again he said. Now he wants me to put some new heads on it. How hard is it to change the heads out of a 96 F150 w/ a 5.0 in it?

5.0 is a simple job. very easy. make sure its a 5.0 though not a 4.6 or 5.4 those get a little bit more compicated. if your putting new heads on it pry get some new manifold bolts as well you will probably break some taking them off. just pull them off the heads not off the pipes. its easier to just break them off in the head then having the studs break off and have to drill them out to put the exhuast y pipe back on.
while your down that far you could take a little bit more apart and put a timing chain and sprockets in it too. unless its somewhat low milage.
