Easy as pie, as long as you can disassemble the axle of choice that it is going in.

Nope. If the axle is already out you can easily work on it without removing the carrier at all.

It's still not a big deal if you have to remove the carrier and ring gear, just bolt it back together the way it came out. And use Locktite.

will it just slip into where it was and will the alignment of the gears stay the same?

It will not mess with your gear settup as long as you pay attention when you disassemble things. I.E.- make sure you put any shims that come out back where they go. The pinion will not be affected.

Take your time and it will be fine. Your new locker should come with install instructions, if it doesn't download them.

I was a little apprehensive the first time I took it apart, but after I saw how simple it was, I have done about 10 of them without a problem. Its pretty easy.. If you have to pull the carrier and ring (I did on my D30) you just need to mark where the ring was in relation to the carrier and put it back the same way it came off (and torque the bolts properly).
