Default POLL: Health Insurance; Do You Have It?

This Healthcare Bill will mandate that you carry insurance.
It will impose a fine/tax if you don't carry it, How will that impact your situation?

I haven't had insurance for years now. Theres no way I can afford any insurance plan, the cheap ones don't cover shit and all they basically are is for bankruptcy protection if that. Even when I did have them before the tool&die industry left this country, I didn't ever go to the doctor and my rates were still total bullshit.

I have insurance, so I used the first option in the poll, but I strongly disagree with that part of the bill. Mandatory health insurance is not just a pita for people that cant afford it, but bad for self-insurers, bad for prices, and bad for lots of things.

Not sure about that? Read about what it did to Mass.
http://www.theobjectivestandard.com/...-insurance.asp

Insurance is supposed to get more affordable because people have a choice. Not providing people a choice of whether or not they buy it is alienating their right to reject overpriced, unused crap.
Not only that, it opens up insurance to lobbyists with lots of money, getting stupid shit put into the minimum insurance requirements, like in-vitro fertilization, chiropractic care, etc.

Next are they going to start mandatory vaccinations? Mandatory euthanizations? Where do Americans draw the line?

As I understood, it is based on the capitalistic practice of reducing insurance cost by pricing and selling in groups, like FEHB. The more policies in a group the lower the cost. By mandating the entire country into a plan will create a large group and the lowest possible price. Only a moron could envision such a thing. Lemonade stand economics.

The underpinnings are race based. By mandating preference to minority, employment, grants and subsidies will now, by statute go to under-represented minority groups instead of the most efficient and proficient. In itself, that is a recipe for mediocrity. Instead of the best and brightest, opportunitys will be based on race, religion or other minority status.

I have it, but I have had family members be denied for pre-existing conditions...like pregnancy and not cover the hospital bill for delivery. I don't know everything in this bill, but it seems that a lot could have been accomplished by less legislation, like no more denying pre-existing conditions, and allow all companies compete in all states. My understanding is that here in Alabama, Blue Cross has a big monopoly. I work for a government defense contractor based out of Washington, DC, and for health care, my only option was BCBS, even though the people in Washington had more than one choice or example.

What do you call a doctor that graduates last in his class? Doctor!
If he's a member of (enter minority group) he gets the opportunity. Not because of his skills or scholastic achievement, but because of the color of his skin, heritage or??
Which one do you want cracking your chest, the one that worked hard to be at the top of the rolls, or the one that squeaked by and gets to wield the knife because of the color of his skin?

This whole deal has been about reparations and power and won't do diddly squat to improve healthcare. In fact, I predict it will make it worse.

Now canadians can get crappy healthcare on both sides of the border.
