This is simple Definitions of Theological institutes.

There are millions of Christians in the world and you expect every single one to agree? Not only that, but you have to realize that there is an enemy of God trying to divide the body of Christ so that we cannot efficiently reach every person on this planet. The Amount of Denominations proves this. I don't like Religion, I like having a relationship With God through his son Jesus Christ. Religion is a Human based institute made up of rules by humans. Most of the time when humans try and put rules on things you get situations like the Roman Catholic Church and The Jewish Church around Christs' time. You have Higher up leaders that are corrupt because they lack the relationship and only care about thier out wards appearence to thier Congregation.

I could care less if you were baptized, spoke in tougnes, Had a "out of body Experience", Was Released from a Demon ETC, All I care about is the Relationship with God. I'm working on not even caring about heaven.

Also, if you want the to play the "don't quote the bible" card......We're talking Christian Theology (right now) and it's part of it. That would be like saying I want to know how the Electrical Code works in MI but you can't quote the NEC. I don't believe in it.

Can you tell I'm a bit bored tonight?

I actually use that analogy to try and explain why God does things (Mostly 'bad') to bring glory to himself. If you were drowning in a ocean and destined for death would you want the Life boat captin to let you do what ever you wanted and live your, at the moment, brief life or would you want him to do anything he could to bring attention (glory) to him? Even if that includes hitting you in the head with the safety Ring.
But your god doesn't hit anyone with safety ring. Like they say: "If you love someone, let them drown.". So tell me... Who would Jesus let drown?

Oh come on ABG, even I can answer this one.

God throws the safety ring to everyone, but he can't force you to grab hold of it.

I've never heard that before. God Honest truth. Jesus doesn't let anybody drown that is willing to except his "Life Ring". It's the ones that think they can swim in the ocean by themselves that are in trouble.

Yeah, Pretty much. I would more or less say that the people are too focused on their own drowning to look up and see the Ring/Jesus.

When I was student teaching we covered some stuff about the Roman Catholic Church before the Protestant Reformation, so obviously I referred to it as Christianity. I got a letter from a parent bitching me out about how I was teaching her little angel that Catholicism was the same as Christianity. I sent her a note that nicely stated that her flavor of Christianity didn't exist before the Protestant Reformation.

Yup, I grew up Catholic, and I'm pretty sure he's got it. I remember thinking so many times, "shit, I have to confess EVERY time I do something wrong..." Luckily I got over that fear. :)

Yeah, but He was saying that Christianity and Catholisism are not the same thing. The Sacraments are another thing and he is right on those.

LIke I said, I was more blown away that he thought it wasn't Christianity. It's a Huge Denomination, but it's not a different religion. That quote also gives me a bit more understanding of where you come from as far as religion goes. It makes sense now.

See, if you and AGB would read what people post instead of what you think they mean, or want to hear, you would see he said if you have not been baptized, had communion, and gone to confession you are hell bound.

Not true and you where never taught that.

If you where raised Catholic, and you paid attention you might remember you couldn't take communion untill you completed your education for your first communion. You where never taught that if you died prior that that you would go to hell.
So your wrong again.

I think he was referring to a person who was not catholic, not a catholic kid who wasn't through with his "training".

I don't like Religion, I like having a relationship With God through his son Jesus Christ.
I hear you on the relationship with god. But I don't believe that the bible should be the way you get it. I don't believe in the Jesus stuff either. I think we all have our own personal relationship with whatever god is not so much who he is because god is obviously not a person. I think people can have this relationship without any church or religion. I think its a personal communication with whatever god is that you have to find. And I'll admit maybe some people need help to find it, But I don't think the commandments... are really directly beamed down from god and I don't think religions are needed. I think a more spiritual, meditative (more like the buddha, Siddhartha Guatama) taught. A direct personal connection with a higher understanding. Not a we behave and do as we're told and we'll get to hang out with our "dad" when we die.

I'm still confused on how you didn't know that Roman Catholicism and Christianity were the same thing. Catholic school or not.

Well, I still aspire to Christian Teaching and believe that Christ is the only way. That's the only way to have that relationship because with out Christ I cannot be with God. What you're talking about sounds like Universal Unitarianism. Can't stand those guys. "Believe what ever you want and it'll be that way"
What I was getting at is that there are far to many rules in religion today. The Catholic Dogma was originally designed to strengthen and build the relationship with Christ. It still can today and I know many Catholics that are solid Christians. Unfortunately, I know more that are Sunday Christians and feel that by telling the priest the bad things you did and drinking some bad wine you'll go to heaven. Then When they get there they can't tell which one is God (aside from the Angels and Beaming light, of course)

Once again common sense and logic used brilliantly.

I didn't say I just got out of school. And thanks for assuming that because I don't agree with your views that I'm some dumb kid with no life experience fresh of the teet. I have a lot more religious experience and exposure than most people, and it is partly due to this that I now believe the way I do. I have been searching learning and asking questions for years trying to find answers that fit and don't contradict themselves.
