Sorry, there is only one "God". Under your view, Jesus is the son of himself.

Edit: God just contacted me and gave me a thumbs up for figuring out the holy trinity is a load of shit.

False religions are another way to distract people from God.

I once thought on the same lines as all of you guys on here... well maybe not all but you get the idea.
Then things began to change for me. I was no longer in control, as much as I always thought I was. My life as I knew it was crumbling down around me. A failed marriage, a death of a very close sister, no job, no work.
At that time one tends to look at your life and wonder can things get much worse?
Everything I thought I was doing was the right thing, but failing at it.
To make a long story short Jesus found me in my troubles and brought me out of it all and I found Him and a new way in life that is better and not about me and what I want. About putting others before me. Not being rushed at everything I do.
Things are at times easier but being a Christian does not mean that all your troubles will go away, they do get worse but in a different way. You see now I have the Lord to fight my battles and life seems to be better when I have Him on my side. He will never leave me nor forsake me, He will always be by my side.
And to think of a friend that created the universe on your side to help you through all of what life throws at you is very comforting.
To know that I can leave my troubles at His feet and not worry or be afraid and know that everything is going to be alright.
I am not afraid as the last post stated that Christians are fearful. I have no fear of death and I don't worry about stuff. I have no control over the big picture of life anyways. When it is your time to die it will happen.

So it may not be a lie that YOU were told, but in general, people are not accepting the truth and believeing what ever non-believers tell them as truth that they themseves know nothing about. If people are unsure of what Christianity is about ask a pastor or attend a church and find out for yourself don't believe the stereo type that the media talk about because there is no truth in what they are claiming Christians are.
Just my 2cents
So many people find jesus in hard times. Nice to have the safety blanket to put all problems on and pretend that we don't have to deal with them. Someone else has got it. "his" "he" .... Why do people think "god" is a guy sitting in the clouds watching us? Why don't we just call him Pete and make it friendlier.

I've often wondered why God needs a penis.

I think the Bible has many good teachings in it but it is also full of contradictions and hate. I also feel the teachings of the Bible have been twisted over time by men trying to use "the word of God" in a manner to achieve their own agenda.

These are my personal views and I don't expect anybody anywhere to believe in God the same way I do. I respect other people's views as long as they respect mine.

One thing that does drive me nutty is how some Christians feel the need to "recruite" people to gain bonus points with God. The smugness and self rightousness that is broadcast by some of these individuals is laughable at times.

I guess in summary, religion is a personal attibute. All I ask is that you keep your views to yourself.
X2 Very well put. You are not alone PM me if you want to start a new organized religion and cram our ideas down peoples throats while taking "Gods" money from them.

Thank you for proving my point. The more fear, the more religious a weak minded person will become. Just like people who go to jail "find jesus" and then lose him somehow once released. Fear is the driving factor behind religion. It's pathetic.

I, however, resist the concept of large-scale organized religion. Like Nuggets, I think it's a personal choice and a personal thing and get really uncomfortable with people who want to push their beliefs on me or others. I'm also uncomfortable with people who are too openly or demonstrably religious.
I'm with Duffman on this one. The biggest example I can think of off the top of my head is on the east side of I-75, i'm pretty sure it's in Ohio. I like to call it Big-Ass-Jesus and it is the perfect example of a church using peoples beliefs to take their money and spend it on frivolous bullshit.

Is that really all you think it's about? Fear? That seems to be the only thing you think it's about. One more reason I think you need to actually research it. Or maybe listen to a couple of us on here instead of spouting off your cut and Dry (and Horribly Wrong) opinion.

Duffman, there isn't actually a halfway in between option to the question, "do you believe in a god?" It's either yes or no. Don't say I don't know, because I didn't ask you about what you know. I asked about what you believe. :) I would say you're a non-theist, you don't positively state that there is no god, but you don't subscribe to a specific religion or set of beliefs, either. I bet you are open to evidence, though.

I'm not sure about that one Mike. I strongly believe in God (or what ever his/it's name may be), but I don't follow religious teachings because I believe they have been bastardized to the point of non-recognition.

You believe in a god, you are a theist. You have a specific set of beliefs set forth by yourself about your god. Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're a theist that doesn't like organized religion who chooses to come up with his own religion to suit himself.

I voted non theist. It's funny that now that I go to church somewhat regularly I'm doubting more....(My wifes father is a pastor and a GOOD man, so I go much more in the last few years than my entire life combined)

Sometimes I want to beleive other times I wonder how the fukc could there be a good, when priests are boy fuckers, there is the plague, earthquakes, tornadoes, kids being raped and murdered etc.
And if you say he's not responsible for that, then don't claim he is responsible for the good shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!
