I'd like to give a shout out to Mickey Mouse, for all we know, you are the one true god! See how silly it is to think you know something you don't?

Walt created him so I think you should give a shout out to Mr. Disney.

I thought God was God? Christians need to make up their mind if they want to be polytheistic or monotheistic.

Speaking of Buddha - I just had a revelation - I wonder if those little shittty statues started the saying "Fat, Dumb, and Happy."
Don't knock those statues, they are modeled after me.

The truth is all there for everybody to see, you just refuse see it because you were told a lie and believe the lie.

He was probably referring to his believing that someone can't have a backbone without a fairy tale reassuring them so they don't piss down their leg every time the wind kicks up. Religious people are very scared.

I don't agree with your assessment of "Religious people".

The lie that i am talking about is a lie from the devil. He gets into your head and tells not just you, but people in general that God is not real, or you don't need God, you can do things on your own without the need of God. He also puts fear in your mind. He puts doubt in your mind.
False religions are another way to distract people from God.

I once thought on the same lines as all of you guys on here... well maybe not all but you get the idea.
Then things began to change for me. I was no longer in control, as much as I always thought I was. My life as I knew it was crumbling down around me. A failed marriage, a death of a very close sister, no job, no work.
At that time one tends to look at your life and wonder can things get much worse?
Everything I thought I was doing was the right thing, but failing at it.
To make a long story short Jesus found me in my troubles and brought me out of it all and I found Him and a new way in life that is better and not about me and what I want. About putting others before me. Not being rushed at everything I do.
Things are at times easier but being a Christian does not mean that all your troubles will go away, they do get worse but in a different way. You see now I have the Lord to fight my battles and life seems to be better when I have Him on my side. He will never leave me nor forsake me, He will always be by my side.
And to think of a friend that created the universe on your side to help you through all of what life throws at you is very comforting.
To know that I can leave my troubles at His feet and not worry or be afraid and know that everything is going to be alright.
I am not afraid as the last post stated that Christians are fearful. I have no fear of death and I don't worry about stuff. I have no control over the big picture of life anyways. When it is your time to die it will happen.

So it may not be a lie that YOU were told, but in general, people are not accepting the truth and believeing what ever non-believers tell them as truth that they themseves know nothing about. If people are unsure of what Christianity is about ask a pastor or attend a church and find out for yourself don't believe the stereo type that the media talk about because there is no truth in what they are claiming Christians are.

Fair enough; so it is the devil putting the doubt and questions about faith in my head. Those are the lies?

Hmnnn.

Mike - your poll is missing the important third value.

I don't have a tag line or name for it, but what about those people who are somewhere between non-theists and theists. That's where I fall. I think that people need to conduct themselves decently and such (i.e. 10 Commandments).

I, however, resist the concept of large-scale organized religion. Like Nuggets, I think it's a personal choice and a personal thing and get really uncomfortable with people who want to push their beliefs on me or others. I'm also uncomfortable with people who are too openly or demonstrably religious.

Does this mean that Chris Angel is Jesus? I've never seen Jesus do any of the things you listed but I have seen Chris Angel levitate and do other things that appear to defy the laws of physics.

Can you be a half-way believer of a religion and still be labeled as being a religious follower? I don't know, is it accepted in some religions? Does aber61 think those people will still burn in hell (I heard Nuggets is supplying candy canes for the train ride down)?

I am under the impression for this poll that if you do not follow a certain religion in its entirety you fall under the 'Non-theist' category.

I agree if I SAW a man doing these things I'd be right on his sand slippers. But the stories of these happening are just as good as the stories of a man who has flying reindeer and can see all and know who is good and bad. Oh and visit ever home in the world in one night. That guy was just as impressive. But there comes a time when we find the truth (flaw in the logic) with jesus and heaven the only way to find out if it's true is to die (perfect logic who can prove this wrong). So now people will believe for FEAR of what may happen if you don't. Fear of an all loving god, that has rules and will punish you but he loves you unconditionally ( yes even as you burn in an eternal fire he still loves you just as much).
