Yeah, 90% do all that hard work for nothing . . . what else are you feeling?

Well, I just ate, so I feel content in that regard, had a hot chick show up at work for a little while, so a little horny too. Feel pretty damn good overall, thanks for asking

You probably meant regarding the 90% didn't you? Okay, I admit, it could be higher than 90. I said they know they're doing good, didn't I? Their intentions are good, it's a shame they have to do good in a fictional charecters name. Everything I do good or bad is credited to me.

That carries no more weight than saying, ďI donít like the color of your shirt.Ē

Letís assume that thereís an afterlife for a moment; say everyone meets up at a Dennyís for breakfast after they die. You happen to get seated with Hitler, Mao, and Jeffery Dahmer. Though the actual words used might be different, the gist of the conversation would have to go something like this:

SM (subjective moralist): You guys sure did some sick stuff while you were alive . . . uh . . . I mean . . . of course I canít say it was WRONG in any absolute sense, because all morality is relative . . . but . . . according to my value system, it was sure sick.

Hitler: I thought it was great; I was improving the German race.

Mao: What I did was great; I was eliminating undesirables from China. I was furthering the cause of the proletariat.

Dahmer: I didn't do anything wrong; I was hungry.

MR: Well, at least you guys were consistent with your own set of values, which is cool.
Yes! Finally someone understands what Iím trying to say. To you, and me, and hopefully a large portion of society, the actions of Hitler, Moa, and Dahmer were horrible moral atrocities. But to them they were morally correct and justified. Thus, morals are subjective and personal. Thank you, I could not have come up with a better example myself. You can judge them on the basis of your morals, but as much as you like to think there is, there is not a universally accepted set of morals to judge others against. I can guarantee that there is something that you enjoy doing that others think is immoral. Letting women walk around with their hair uncovered? Eating pork? Eating beef? Eating meat? Drinking alcohol? Consuming caffeine? Smoking? Doing drugs? Premarital sex? Pornography? Photography? Receiving medical treatments? Driving off road?... Stop me when I get to something you enjoy. Somewhere in the world there are people that think that some of these things are immoral.

So back to your big Dennyís in the sky and my breakfast companions, I can question them as to how they concluded that their actions were moral, but I can not question that those were their morals. What I can also do is question them as to what made them think that they were such a moral authority that they could impose their morals on the rest of society, which I see as a violation of the rights on the individual.

In summary, I believe that the rights of the individual are superior to the morals of others, and that itís when the two are in conflict that we need laws, law enforcement, and our legal system, (and perhaps armies) to settle those differences.

Very well put. I'd like to throw in my 2/100 and say that while many see these things as bad, NO ONE is supposed to judge others," he who is without sin ", that one ring a bell? So who can say that when "god" strolls over to your table at Denny's he doesn't welcome every one of them right on in with no hard feelings? Just because we don't like it or agree with it doesn't make it wrong. Tattoos=wrong, right?

I believe that 100% of your assumption is false. I know pastors, not just at church, but at home away from thier "flock". They are humans but if you got into a heated debate about anything theological with them I'm betting that they would show you that they do, in fact, believe what they preach. The ones that don't get thinned out in Seminary. Trust me, Unless you believed what you preached, being a pastor would be the last job you would want. It's not glamorous, it's down right horrible sometimes.

I don't think you'd get that form God though. Because he has his "morals" too. He actually spelled them out and if you were confronted with him then that would mean he is real. Which means that his Morals are probably the ones to follow considering the hole universe is his terf. In this instance though, I get what you're saying.

As L4CX stated you know absolutly nothing about the church, christianity and so on. So from this point on I will no longer reply to any of your statements and others should do the same until you grow up.

I love it! Seriously, if more parents laid out the law like that, there would be alot less douchbaggery on the streets.

I don't know... my parents weren't very strict with me in my teen years and I grew up to be an upstanding gentleman, never did any drugs or got any girls pregnant. I didn't have anything to rebel against, but aren't the kids with the super strict parents the first ones to rebel?

You have a point to some degree. I actually plan on giving my kids a shit ton of responsibilty and allow them to fail (so they can figure out how to correct their mistakes). I still will require a curfew, no tattoos, monitor their computer activity, and be an asshole to their boyfriends (especially if they have piercings).

My only goal with my childeren is to raise them to be productive members of society.

I did have a lot of responsibility, though. My parents own a business, so everyday after school, I was working, every Saturday, all summer, etc. I had to buy my own cars, insurance, registration, toys, etc. It was pretty cool to own my own car/jetski at 16 when my friends were still bumming rides. :)
