i towed with my 6.9. 330k miles, all stock, towed pretty damn good, for what it was. it was a 4speed manual with no overdrive and a 3.54 gear. got 20mpg empty and anywhere from 14-16mpg towing my 80 f150 lifted and 38"s on my 20ft flat bed. i miss the truck.

6.9s are all non turbo from the factory. It will tow just fine. My 6.9 with a turbo got 9mpg towing 15,000 down to the badlands and back. They will pull up to about 10,000 and still get decent mileage.

I have a 94 IDI turbo (turbo is very small on the IDI's) and I routinely pull 15-20k behind it. Milage sucks on mine. I've gotten as high as 15.5 but most of the time its 10-12 mpg. Luckily I don't drive the truck every day.

i have an 86 6.9 and it tows great, i've towed a bunch of cars with it and never had a problem and the guy that had it before me towed a small horse trailer on a regular bassis but mines a 3 speed auto with no od, still gets pretty good gas milage
