an extra $20 a year for a recreational use vehicle doesnt really matter...but to almost double the cost of plates for a vehicle needed to get to work/groceries/apointments/other daily necasseties, that is a big problem.

A couple years back they tried to get hunting and fishing licenses up to $45 for residents and failed. I suspect if they want people to come to Michigan they had better change things in a positive way. they are still loosing ass loads of people every year and can't reverse it.

Oh you best beleive it matters to us recreational users too. Especially when you factor in that our current 16.25 ORV sticker fee's have been mismanaged and wasted for years now.

Nobody would complain about a 30.50 ORV sticker IF these dollars were being used properly. But to come to the ORV users of this State and tell them that you want to double their fee's without addressing the years of poorly marked and ungroomed trails, untrained safety instructors, and a host of other ignored ORV issues, is blatent misuse of funding.

So you really think that paying an extra $20 a year for a recreational vehicle is just as big a deal as doubling the cost to plate a street vehicle? With all the people out of work, barely paying thier bills, and doing away with anything recreational, who need thier vehicles to go to interviews, do whatever odd jobs thay can find, etc., do you really think they can afford to pay twice as much for a license plate on thier car?
What about those that still have jobs, but thier hours have been cut, or forced pay cut, etc, so again they cant afford as much as they did before...the recreational use stuff goes away first, if that person has any common sense...but they still have to pay twice as much to renew thier plates so thay can still get to work to pay for everything else.

I agree that the ORV money has been severely mismanaged, and would be happy to pay the extra if that changed, but it just doesnt compare.

Yota Bill,
I think you maybe misinterpeted my above post just a little bit or maybe I just just a horrible job of explaining myself?. None the less, im not trying to suggest that paying an extra 20.00 per year to operate your ORV is nearly as big a deal as doubling the costs to operate a street vehicle is.

Im only stating that an increase in our ORV sticker fee's with no accountability on behalf of the waste and mismanagement of the DNR, does indeed matter to most ORVers.

I'd be the first to agree with you that doubling our street licensed vehicle fee's would hurt alot of folks and have a serious impact on many.

Yep then Oblabla can introduce a bill saying the rich should have to pay for the registration for the poor people. Poor people have a right to own a vehicle, right?
