building a tow bar diffrently.

Me and my buddy go wheeling a decent amount togeather. We both have front and rear hitches. Is there anything bad about building a tow bar that would just go from the front reciver of one vehicle to the rear of the other. Just was thinking of doing this as a way to get a dead vehicle to a shop or towing it off the highway. and maybe the occasional slow long trip home. I was thinking of using a standard 2" ball coupler that you can buy at lowes. then to a pc of steel to a bushing. and long pc of steel to the bushing and then another bushing/bracket going into the vehicle in tows front hitch. a little confusing so ill make a picture.

seems like it would work. but i would go with a triangle design. does ur jeep have d loop mounts on the front. make the bar go from them into the ball mount. weld a cross brace in to stiffen it up.

no D-rings in the front. only a hitch and tow hooks. im looking to do something that would be universal between the two vehicles. if It was just for my jeep id just bolt up a regular tow bar.

Not a good idea.

Tow bars have a triangle shape for a reason. (to spread the load across the front of the towed vehicle and to give the tow bar strength)

A tow bar really isn't something to be messing around with if you don't fully realize the forces that are put on it.
