Default Opinions on Rebel XTi?

Thinking about buying the wife a new camera. I have found some nice deals on the Canon Rebel XTi.
Pros,Cons. I am finding them for about $300 with the EF-S18-55 lens.
Anyone have one with some real input?

Thanks

Does she work with an SLR right now? If not there's a learning curve for sure for someone who doesn't use an SLR. Not to say that's a bad thing by any means, they all have an "auto" setting. I don't shoot Canon so i have nothing to say about that

I am a Nikon addict, so I can't comment on using the camera. There is a nice review at http://photo.net/equipment/canon/digital_rebel_xti/

For $300 with a lens, its good for super entry level SLR. You get what you pay for. Keep in mind pros pay $2000+ for just a body. Ive got about $600 into my a200 with lenses, and it has me wanting more after 2 years, but I'll stick with it.
