Default trailer winch, what rating?

Just curious on your thoughts about minimum winch rating for my car hauler. Lets say the Bronco fully loaded is 4000lbs and it has to be pulled up a ramp. However, it is rolling on wheels with the only resistance coming from the ramp. Is there really a need for a 5500lb winch or would a 2-3000lb winch be overkill?

I know several people that have mounted the 1,500 harbor freight winch up and used it a few times. Almost all of them have burned up or shorted out.

I have a harbor freight 8,000 winch on my trailer, and I can drag fullsize trucks up onto it that don't even have wheels.

Like any winch, the bigger the better.

I have used a cheap winch like this one:

to pull jeeps up my trailer without problems.

before i just upgraded my trailer winch i was using a 3000 lb HF winch with a snatch block to double the pulling power and shorten the cable. i pulled a 1 ton diesel truck onto my trailer with it and while it strained the winch it kept on pulling.
