Default Hood release

I have a cherokee and whenever I pop the hood, only the driver side releases, and will not latch back down. I want to manually release the whole hood, is there a way to do it without trashing the entire hood?

if you're having problems getting the hood to open pull the head light assemblies and you can unbolt the catches from the body. once you've got everything open just get all the moving pieces lubricated well and moving freely and you shouldnt have any more problems

lube lube and more lube. also on every xj I have owned I have drilled out the crappy rivets on the hood pivot and replaced them with machine screws and loc-tite.
